Stan Utley
Stan Utley is one of golf’s most respected instructors and a rare voice who has excelled both as a player and a teacher at the highest levels of the sport. A two-time All-America golfer at the University of Missouri and a long-time PGA Tour competitor, Utley captured the 1989 Chattanooga Classic and three victories on what is now the Korn Ferry Tour. He also holds the PGA Tour record for fewest putts over nine holes, recording just six at the 2002 Air Canada Championship.
Since beginning his coaching career in 2002, Stan has become a fixture in the game, earning recognition as one of Golf Digest’s 50 Best Teachers (No. 11 on the 2024–2025 list) and working with top professionals including Sergio Garcia and Charles Barkley. Beyond tour players, he conducts private lessons, corporate instruction events, and clinics from his bases at Shady Oaks Country Club in Fort Worth and Maroon Creek Golf Club in Aspen, Colorado.
An accomplished author, Utley has co-written four instruction books with Golf Digest’s Matthew Rudy — The Art of Putting, The Art of the Short Game, The Art of Scoring, and The Art of Sequencing Your Swing — further cementing his reputation as a thought leader in golf instruction. Known for his expertise, approachable style, and passion for the game, Stan Utley continues to inspire golfers of all levels, bridging the gap between tour-level performance and everyday play.
